Your skin care routine can keep you looking years younger and also keep you feeling your best.  There are many recommended tips from dermatologists that you should consider to ensure you are keeping you at your best.

Apply Sunscreen

Every day that you step outdoors, you should remember your sunscreen.  Sunscreen is needed when it is sunny, overcast, winter, or summer.  A broad-spectrum product can prevent your skin from aging and prevent issues with skin cancer in the future.  It is important to note that sunscreen should only be applied to infants six months and older.

Don’t Smoke

Smoking can speed up the signs of aging and wounds will also take longer to heal if you are a smoker.  Psoriasis can also be exacerbated by smoking.   Smokers can also have broken capillaries and thinning of the skin that is unappealing.

Check

Many of us forget to check our skin and analyze spots on our body.  If you notice a spot that differs in color, size, or texture then you should have it checked by a professional.  If the spot you are watching begins to itch or bleed it can also be of concern.

Tan

We all love to look tan and fit during the summer and even winter months; however, sunbathing is dangerous and tanning beds can also be extremely harmful to your health.  Self-tanners are the next best way to get a tan without the risk of damaging your skin.  Remember after applying the self-tanner, that you still need to protect your skin with sunblock.

Use Skin Care Products for Your Skin

Make sure to learn about the type of skin you possess and ensure that you are using products that help with your particular skin conditions.  If you have oily skin, use products developed to combat oil.  If you have dry skin, consider using products that are formulated for your skin.  The products are useful for keeping your skin under control.

Don’t Scrub

Many of us have the desire to scrub our faces clean until they shine; however, this can be more damaging than helpful.  Scrubbing irritates the skin and can cause issues with your pH balance.

Wash Your Face

Using a mild cleanser is always best when cleaning your face.  It is imperative to wash your face before you go to bed, to remove makeup and sweat from the day.  You should also wash your face in the morning to remove bacteria and sweat that my have accumulated during the night.

Stress Less

Find healthy ways to manage stress, because some stress levels can cause skin conditions to worsen.  Acne and eczema can also be exacerbated by stress.  Learning how to cope with stress will do your skin and your body good.

Dermatologist

Even better than all the tips above, is to schedule a visit with a dermatologist and determine if your skin care routine is the best option for your skin.  They can assess your skin and look for any issues you may be experiencing.
