Reducing Cellulite

Cellulite is an unattractive dimpling of the skin, usually prominent on the buttocks and thighs. We all long to have smooth skin that lacks dimpling, but it is a natural skin condition regardless of weight.  Cellulite is caused by a bunching up of fat in the upper layer of the skin. Cellulite is genetic and can appear in any part of your body, including the stomach, thighs, upper arms, and buttocks.

Body Brush

One way to improve cellulite appearance is to dry brush with a nice big brush.  After you get out of the shower, use the brush to make circular motions from the ankles up to the buttocks.  This action improves circulation and helps with lymph drainage.  Natural bristle brushes are an excellent way to improve the appearance of dimples.

Cardio

Cardio exercise is also necessary to burn fat and allow for the smoothing of skin.  Short bursts of exercise are much more effective than longer cardio activities.  Running, cycling, and swimming are excellent options to burn fat and smooth skin.

Water

Drinking plenty of water is necessary for the health of your body and for the look of smoother skin.  Drinking water helps to flush toxins that can get trapped under the skin.  Don’t drink too much water or it can actually lead to swelling under the cellulite.  If you are bored with water, consider adding flavor to the water.

Diet

Obviously, a good diet can be important for your health and the look of your skin.   Ingest vitamins A, C, and E to help with smooth skin.  Selenium, magnesium, and zinc can help to prevent cell damage that can lead to dimpled skin.  Eggs, apples, spinach, soy, and peanuts are a great way to improve the strength of dermal cells and reduce cellulite. Avoid full fat and fast foods that will add to fat deposition.

Protein

Proteins strengthens the production of elastin and collagen which strengthens the skin and reduces the appearance of cellulite.  It also helps to firm muscles that can keep fat storage in place and reduce cellulite.  Lean meats, nuts, and skim milk are great ways to get your protein.

Cellulite Creams

There are creams you can purchase that will help with the appearance of cellulite. They will not get rid of it and they will need to be partnered with diet and exercise.  These creams often have caffeine that help to firm the skin.  Make sure to scrub and plump the skin prior adding the cream to help with the appearance of cellulite.

Stairs

Take the stairs whenever you can to burn calories, but also to work the legs from different angles than if you were running or biking.  Make sure to give your legs all the workout they can stand.

Omega Fatty Acids

Eating fish is a great way to get your omega fatty acids. This will help with lowering cholesterol, which helps to boost circulation and that gives us an anti-inflammatory effect that reduces the appearance of dimples on the skin.
